Petani Sumatera Dirugikan Akibat Indonesia impor Pangan mencapai Rp125 triliun

NLS/Sumut - Diperkirakan dari 13 juta penduduk Sumut saat ini, tercatat 1,2 juta diantaranya merupakan rumah tangga petani, atau sekitar 3,6 juta jiwa masih merupakan petani.

Angka ini belum termasuk pekerja di lahan pertanian, perkebunan, peternakan dan lain sebagainya. Oleh sebab itu menurut anggota DPR dari Fraksi Gerakan Indonesia Raya (Gerindra), Martin Hutabarat, uang Rp125 triliun itu seharusnya beredar di petani Indonesia.

“Bukannya justru memperkaya petani di luarnegeri. Apalagi itu untuk membeli bahan-bahan pangan yang dapat tumbuh subur di bumi Indonesia. Seperti beras, jagung dan gula. Besarnya angka itu berarti secara sadar bukan mau memakmurkan petani kita,”ungkap Martin saat berbincang dengan koran ini di Jakarta.

Menariknya, ketiga komponen impor utama bahan pangan yang disebutkan Martin ini, selama ini cukup dikenal menjadi andalan pertanian Sumatera Utara. Jadi wajar jika dinilai, impor sangat merugikan khususnya petani di Sumut. Karena akhirnya hasil pertanian yang mereka semakin tidak bernilai.

Oleh sebab itu, jika memang ingin mensejahterakan para petani, menurut Martin, pemerintah harus segera menerapkan kebijakan berani membeli harga jagung atau beras dari petani dengan harga yang lebih tinggi. Bukan justru seperti yang terlihat salah satunya sampai mengimpor beras untuk Sumut yang jumlahnya lebih dari ratusan ribu ton beberapa waktu lalu.
